Maelor South community council have funded two speed awareness display units to alert drivers to their current speed.

The units are located as you enter Bettisfield village and on Ellesmere Lane in Penley. This data is collected monthly.

VAS Ellesmere Lane Penley

Data from both units are posted monthly on this site and sent also to the North Wales team at GoSafe

As seen in the latest data from our speed awareness unit in Penley, speed violations have been recorded at 16.48% Maximum speed recorded was 57 mph in a residential area. If you speed through our village, please think it’s your children or your neighbours walking along Ellesmere Lane. Our village schools start their new school year on the 5th of September and young children will be attending school for the first time.. We ask you please to consider your friends and neighbours. Speed Kills!!!

Here is the data from our Vehicle Activated Sign after the Railway Bridge.

The above data shows a recorded maximum speed of 61 mph. The average speed is 29mph which in a 30 mph restricted area is demonstrating the majority of drivers are within the speed limit. Please do not speed through Bettisfield you put yourself and neighbours at risk. Speed Kills.

If you require any further information on traffic volume or speed please contact the clerk of the council via this website.
