Here are just a number of the projects the Community Council will be supporting in 2026/ 27
Pride in Place Funding (Central Government Funding)
Maelor South Community Council have consulted with the Betisfield and Penley communities and an application has been made in April 2026 to Wrexham Borough Council for funding for a number of key projects Further details and updates will follow.
Office Field Bettisfield
Opening the office field for use by the Bettisfield community to include wild flower, conservation areas and village outdoor picnic area.
Penda’s Park Playground
We continue to evaluate new and innovative play equipment. We would welcome ideas or suggestions from Penley parents and children.
Penley Youth Club
Members of the community council are actively supporting the running, management and fund raising to improve youth facilities in the Penley and surrounding area.
Dymock Arms in Penley
Continue to monitor and comment on any proposed development on this site. Supporting the best interests of the village community.
Planning
Act as the link between our community to ensure all new planning applications are in keeping with our rural community and the infrastructure is in place to support the application before permission is granted.
Street lights
The Community Council will work with the Wrexham Council’s planning department to ensure the street lighting is updated and improved on Ellesmere Lane as per the planning approval for Big Green Farm.
