Battle of Waterloo Coldstream Guard Veteran Private John Beckett

Battle of Waterloo Coldstream Guards veteran John Beckett (1794- 1848) who resided with his family in Ellesmere Lane Penley and is buried within the Penley Churchyard and who’s recorded grave site have been lost has been remembered by Coldstream Guards association by the laying of a plaque in front of the cenotaph (Penley Church Yard) John fought right in the heart of the battle defending the farmyard at Hougoumont and he was presented with the Waterloo Silver Medal in April 1816.
